“Today I am asking Indigenous leaders—in families and in communities right across Australia—to step up and take responsibility for restoring strong social norms in their own communities.”
So said Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, presenting the second report on “Closing the Gap on Indigenous Disadvantage” to an Australian Parliament in which there is not a single indigenous representative.
From the over-privileged Anglo-Australian social norms which frame the Australian Prime Minister’s world-view, there is no problem with that. One-sided forms of representation still the order of the day in the Rudd world view.
How very “Modern”, Kevin – how very last century.
