Unambiguous congratulations to PM Rudd and his government

3 April 2009

Hon Kevin Rudd, MP
Prime Minister
Parliament House
Canberra ACT 2600

Dear Prime Minister Rudd,

Australia and the U. N. Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

You and your government are to be unambiguously congratulated for the official endorsement by Australia of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

As a non-indigenous person who has taken a keen interest in these matters for some decades, I say “Thank you”.

The challenge to non-indigenous Australians, in coming to terms with Australian realities of the longest standing, is greatly assisted by enlightened leadership from the core of the governing process.

The 21st century may yet prove to be, in some areas of life at least, a healing century for this country – and all its peoples.

Yours truly

Bruce Reyburn
